Sometimes, the revision arthroplasty takes place earlier. For instance, in a case of inflammation after the initial arthroplasty, when the prosthesis had been replaced with a temporary spacer with antibiotics.
If a surgeon encounters large bone defects, special revision systems may be implanted. Sometimes, in the most difficult cases, individual 3D printed prosthetic components can be applied.
